% Change = (New − Original) / Original × 100
From 80 to 100: (100−80)/80 × 100 = 25% increase.
From 100 to 80: (80−100)/100 × 100 = 20% decrease.
Note the asymmetry
A 25% increase from 80 gives 100, but a 25% decrease from 100 gives 75, not 80. Percentage changes are relative to the starting value.
