Intercept calculator
Find where a function crosses the x-axis (x-intercepts) and y-axis (y-intercept).
f(x) =
How to find intercepts
Y-intercept: Set x = 0 and evaluate f(0). For f(x) = x²−5x+6: f(0) = 6, so y-intercept is (0, 6).
X-intercepts: Set f(x) = 0 and solve. x²−5x+6 = 0 → (x−2)(x−3) = 0 → x = 2 and x = 3.
Intercepts and graphing
Intercepts are key points for sketching graphs. Combined with the vertex (for parabolas) or asymptotes (for rational functions), they give the basic shape.
