What is a reciprocal?
The reciprocal of x is 1/x. Reciprocal of 5 is 1/5 = 0.2. Reciprocal of 2/3 is 3/2 = 1.5.
A number times its reciprocal always equals 1: x × (1/x) = 1.
Special cases
0 has no reciprocal (1/0 is undefined). The reciprocal of 1 is 1. The reciprocal of −3 is −1/3.
