ⁿ√x = x^(1/n). The 3rd root (cube root) of 27 = 27^(1/3) = 3. The 4th root of 256 = 256^(1/4) = 4.

n=2: square root. n=3: cube root. n=4: fourth root. Higher roots give values closer to 1 for any x > 1.
