Date of birth

How age is calculated

Age is measured as the number of complete years, months, and remaining days from your date of birth to today's date. A "complete year" means the same month and day have passed. For example, someone born on June 15 turns one year older each June 15.

Age in different units

Years: The standard measure. You are 0 years old until your first birthday.

Months: Multiply years by 12 and add remaining months. 30 years, 6 months = 366 months.

Weeks: Divide total days by 7. 10,000 days ≈ 1,428 weeks.

Days: Accounts for leap years (366 days) and regular years (365 days).

Leap year birthdays

People born on February 29 (leap day) technically have a birthday every 4 years. Legally, most jurisdictions treat March 1 as their birthday in non-leap years. They still age one year per year like everyone else.

Age milestones in days

1,000 days ≈ 2 years, 9 months. 10,000 days ≈ 27 years, 5 months. 20,000 days ≈ 54 years, 9 months. 30,000 days ≈ 82 years, 2 months.
